Bill Bassett From: Rimrock, Arizona, USA | Posted 17 Jan 2010 5:57 am | No I don't mean dinner and a movie. I have been using an old Peavey Duece recently. Really like it too BTW. It is somewhat different than the Duece I had back in 82. I think it's older. It has tremelo and the newer one didn't, it had phase shift I think. Also, the covering is more like a basket weave texture. The knobs have little paper inserts (that are mostly pealing off). Any good way to tell when it was made? BDBassett Rimrock AZ |

Jerry Overstreet From: Louisville Ky | Posted 17 Jan 2010 2:28 pm | http://www.peavey.com/support/searchmanuals/archived.cfm?page=D The archived manuals show 3 different models of the Deuce. I'm not sure about the Festival model, but I know the one called the Deuce was out in the late 70's before the VT. The orignal Deuce with the chrome knobs and stick on black centers had a Tremolo circuit whereas the the later VT had a phase shifter ala the old Session 500. I don't know if this will help you date yours, but maybe narrow it down to the era it was mfg'd. A good friend of mine had one that he used for guitar and it was a great sounding amp from the hybrid period...4 6L6 amp section with a ss front end and automix feature. [I had one of the Artist amps that was similar in design with some of the same features.] |

Ben Elder From: La Crescenta, California, USA | Posted 19 Jan 2010 1:56 am | There was a period (somewhere in the '80s) where the date was coded on the serial number plate. If you see two digits of a likely year and a letter A through D--say 86D--that would be fourth quarter of 1986. Other eras are more cryptic and require channeling Meridian. _________________ “When I think of the road we’re traveling on, I wonder what’s gone wrong.” —Paul Simon |
